That is a nice looking bucking fun!

Sad day for tackle football in Ottawa but player safety outweighs a championship. We will be back stronger than ever in 2021. Our Executive and Coaches will be sitting down to put together a plan for some skills and drills / Flag Football for our players. Stay Safe.

Myers RidersAs you are aware, the City of Ottawa and Province of Ontario continue to review and address the COVID- 19 pandemic with a view to re-opening businesses and sport community. Their guidelines and direction supersede sport organizations in this regard. Football Canada and OFA have drafted a Covid-19 Return to Football Guideline which NCAFA reviewed with both FC and OFA on July 23rd. (see link below)

ontariofootball.ca/files/return_to_football_2_0.pdf

This document provides the membership pathways to return to play as follows;

Pathway 1- Physical Training and Skill Development (Regions still in Stage 2)
Pathway 2 - Non-Contact Activities and Games – Flag Football (Stage 3)
Pathway 3 - Team Practice: Stay and Train –Touch and Tackle (Stage 3)

Our key focus was for activation of Pathway 3 (tackle football), which currently does not allow for wearing of equipment, no scrimmages or games plus a host of other facility, personal and process requirements.

With the current state of the pandemic fluctuating on almost a daily basis, it is clear that the ability to return to play tackle in 2020 was in serious jeopardy. That and the risk to the health and safety of our players, coaches, officials, volunteer and parents required we take action.

After thoughtful discussion, the NCAFA Board of Governors voted to suspend tackle football for the 2020 season and set the stage for a grand return in 2021 …. our 66th Anniversary!

While we are disappointed in not having tackle football this fall, we feel this is the correct decision for all involved and our sport. If you have any questions please contact your Club President or myself directly.

Respectfully,

Gawain Harding

Update?

This is a very delicate situation, so many bad things can happen. My opinion.
